8 Tips for Good Eyesight
This might be one of the serious illnesses that a lot of people are facing today. Not only do adults experience having poor eyesight but the youngsters as well. Some of the causes may be the lack of sleep or being in front of the computer or TV for a long period of time. Whatever the reason is, it is still important to know how we can protect our eyes. So, here are some tips on how you can take care of your eyes.
1. Eat Food for Your Eyes
Knowing the right diet is great but it is also important to take note of the food that can be good for your eyes. Some of which are salmon or tuna which are a good source of Omega 3, green and leafy vegetables, juices and other citrus fruits as well as foods that are rich in Vitamins C and E and lutein.
2. Use Sunglasses
When going out, it is better to protect your eyes from the ultraviolet rays of the sun with the use of sunglasses. Some studies show that this might also be the cause of having macular degeneration or even cataract. Sunglasses would also help in avoiding too much light in your eyes that may sometimes result to unwanted accidents in the streets.
3. Use a Protective Eyewear at Home or in the Office
Some of the jobs require using the eyes most of the time. If this is the case, it is highly suggested that you wear protective eyeglasses at the office or at home so that your eyes can be protected from dust and other particles which may affect your eyesight.
4. Rest Your Eyes from the Computer
If you have been staring and working on the computer for a long period of time in a day, make sure that you distance your eyes from it for a few minutes. Resting your eyes may recharge them again and not only that, you are also doing yourself a favor of resting your mind from work even for just a few minutes.
5. Say NO to Smoking
This might come as a bit of a shock, but yes, smoking does affect good eyesight. Optic nerve damage might occur from smoking too much. Cataract as well as other eye diseases may also likely to take place. So, it is better to quit smoking now than to be blind a bit later.
6. Have a Regular Eye Check-up
Visit your eye doctor frequently so that he can monitor your eye health and vision. Sometimes some eye conditions may happen even without having some trouble with your vision’s grade. So it is highly suggested that you take precautionary measures by asking your doctor about it.
7. Controlling the Air in the Office or at Home
In some parts of the worlds where the winter season is most likely to affect the eyesight, it is important to note that you should have a humidifier if you are in these areas. This will prevent your eyes from experiencing irritation and swelling. If you have pets at home, make sure that you keep their hairs off on areas where you usually stay such as on the bed or chair.
8. Replacing your Contact Lens
If you are wearing contact lens, make it a point to change or replace them within two to three months depending on how long you wear them in a day. Place them in an area where it is not too hot nor too damp for it may cause dryness for the contacts as well as the solution itself.
